Honoring One of Our Own – Shane McConnell
This Saturday, October 4th, Waldron’s own Shane McConnell will be inducted into the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) Hall of Fame – Class of 2025!
Shane’s football journey began right here at Waldron High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1984. Wearing #55, he was a standout for the Bulldogs from 1981–1983, playing Offensive Tackle and Middle Linebacker. In his senior year, he helped lead the Bulldogs to a share of the District Championship, earning All-District and All-Southwest Times honors in 1983 under Coach Hugh Parker, with Ron Goddard, Terry Nichols, and Leo Holstein on staff.
At UCA, Shane traded #55 for #74 and built a legendary career:
• NAIA All-Conference
• 4-Year Letterman
• 3-Year Starter
• NAIA All-American Offensive Lineman (1987)
• Member of two NAIA National Championship teams
Today, Shane has carried the lessons he learned on the field into his professional life. For the past 36 years, he has worked with
F/H Food Equipment, an employee-owned company providing equipment to businesses across the country.
Shane is proud to be from Y-City, proud to have been a Waldron Bulldog, and now joins the ranks of the UCA Hall of Fame.
Join us in congratulating Shane McConnell on this incredible honor!
