COMING NEXT WEEK: The Waldron News & Chamber Christmas Cash Hunt!
Starts Thanksgiving Week — Runs for 4 Weeks
The Waldron News, in partnership with the Waldron Area Chamber of Commerce, is excited to launch a festive new holiday tradition — the Christmas Cash Hunt, a four-week community challenge designed to bring fun, excitement, and a little Christmas cheer to Waldron.
The contest officially kicks off in the Thanksgiving edition on November 25 and continues each week through the December 16 issue, with winners announced just before Christmas in our December 23 edition.
How the Christmas Cash Hunt Works:
Each week, one hidden clue will appear somewhere inside the newspaper.
The clue will be a short line of text woven naturally into an article, caption, Chamber feature, advertisement, or community story.
The clue will be a short line of text woven naturally into an article, caption, Chamber feature, advertisement, or community story.
The clue will appear in this format:
Christmas Cash Hunt Clue — WORD: ____ | NUMBER: ____
Readers will search the paper each week, find the clue, and write down the word and number.
At the end of the four weeks, participants will have:
-
Four words that come together to form a complete Christmas message
-
Four numbers that must be added together for a final total
Here is an example of how a hidden clue may appear inside a regular news story:
The Waldron Area Chamber of Commerce Board met on Wednesday, November 12 at Waldron High School to discuss monthly business, including plans for the New Year’s Eve Gala and the Chamber Christmas Cash Giveaway. The Board also welcomed new member Laura Kitchens and the FFA officer team as part of the Chamber’s expanding youth involvement. During the meeting, holiday promotions were reviewed, and this week’s Christmas Cash Hunt clue is: WORD: Merry | NUMBER: 14, which appeared in the update on seasonal activities. Board members encouraged the community to stay engaged throughout the holiday season.
This is only a sample — official clues begin in the Thanksgiving edition
Note: The actual four-word message will NOT be revealed in advance.
Readers must uncover it by finding all four weekly clues.
To help readers understand how the contest works, here is a simple example of what the four weeks of clues might look like:
