The Waldron News to Host Community Candidate Forum Feb. 4
The Waldron News will host a community political town hall and candidate forum on Wednesday, February 4, at 6 p.m. at the Waldron High School Auditorium, providing voters an opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking local office in a structured and respectful setting.
The forum will feature candidates running for State Representative, Scott County Judge, and Scott County Sheriff, with discussion guided by a moderated format designed to help voters gain clarity on key local issues and candidate priorities.
The event will be moderated by Marcus Richmond, the current District 52 State Representative, who is not seeking re-election. Richmond brings legislative experience and a strong understanding of the issues facing the district, and his role as moderator is intended to ensure a fair, balanced, and professional discussion among candidates.
Questions during the forum will be rotated among candidates, ensuring that each participant has the opportunity to respond first throughout the evening. All candidates present will be asked questions relevant to their race, including candidates who may not have an opposing candidate in attendance, so that voters can still hear directly from those seeking office.
The evening will begin with the Waldron High School Band leading the National Anthem, followed by opening remarks and the moderated forum. A visible timekeeper and established guidelines will be used to ensure equal opportunity for candidates and to maintain a focused, informative discussion for attendees.
The town hall reflects The Waldron News’ ongoing commitment to civic engagement and voter education ahead of the upcoming election.
Community members or businesses interested in sponsoring the event may contact Brittany Maine at 479-207-3235 for more information.
Additional details will be shared by The Waldron News as the event approaches.
A healthy Scott County requires great community news.
