Texia ​Joan (Carroll) Remer

Texia ​Joan (Carroll) Remer, 91, formerly of the Blue Ball Community, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, Virginia.​ Joan was born to Charles and Ora (Ham) Carroll, on November 13, 1934, in San Diego, California. 

She was a dedicated educator, passionate musician, and beloved member of her community. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Texas Christian University and her master’s degree from the University of Central Arkansas. Her education career spanned multiple states, where she taught elementary education in Perryton, Texas, and Waldron, Arkansas, before later sharing her love of music as a music educator in Anchorage, Alaska. 

Joan’s passion for music extended beyond the classroom. A talented violinist, she proudly performed with the Symphony Orchestra of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and spent her lifetime entertaining others with her violin. Her love for the arts was matched only by her love for horses, and she was honored to be named Rodeo Queen in Coleman, Texas.

Above all, Joan was a devoted follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and cherished her family deeply. 

​In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Remer; sons, C. Aaron Remer and T. Adam Remer; grandson,

Jacob Remer; and granddaughter, Windy Remer. Survivors include her son, S. Jason Remer; daughter, Ora Jane Jenkins; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, 2: 30 pm, at the Egypt Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in Egypt Cemetery.
